Florida's PPACA Debate Summed (and Mashed) Up

The State House of Representatives in Florida elected to support a majority-proposed program called 'Florida Healthy Choices' rather than accepting over $50 billion to expand Primary Care in the next 10 years for over 1.1 million uninsured, poor Floridians. The Healthy Choices program uses taxpayer money to fund health care accounts for 115,000 Floridians currently at or below the Federal Poverty Level. The system's goal is to create a health vendor website similar to the website Groupon, which would organize discount services for plan members.

This issue will probably get a lot more attention going forward. It will most certainly be a campaign issue in 2014 if there is no special session called to find a way to accept this money this year.
